University City Science Center was founded in 1963, strategically located in the heart of Philadelphia. It is based on innovation, entrepreneurship and technology commercialization. The inventors, investors and entrepreneurs are the most important in Science Center and their ideas will revolutionize the future in our life. Science Center is set up 53 years ago. Since founded, it has created 15,000 jobs and has 31 shareholders including many major universities, hospitals and foundations in the United States, such as Philadelphia University, Lincoln University, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Presbyterian Foundation for Philadelphia, etc. The annual regional economic value of Science Center could reach $9 billion. For now, Science Center has more than 150 entrepreneurs and advisors. There are 21 research institutions and universities providing technical support for Science Center. Science Center develops several popular projects in recent years, such as Digital Health Accelerator (DHA), Phase 1 Ventures, PORT Business Incubator, AVID Radio Pharmaceuticals, etc.
POCT Business Incubator was founded in 2012. By 2015, there are 113 companies settled, including 9 global companies from 6 countries, providing 163 jobs. POCT Business Incubator has raised funds of $410 million from 10 companies by means of equity investment, IPO and crowdfunding. POCT Business Incubator implements a plan called Global Soft Landing (GSL). GSL is accredited by the International Business Innovation Association, which identifies these specialized programs for helping companies enter new markets. GSL allows global companies to set up their business in the USA and helps them access the market of life science in Greater Philadelphia by providing flexible space, flexible terms, and the opportunities to connect collaborators in the innovation ecosystem.
